Registration Procedure

Important Information
before proceeding with STEP 2!

 

A. Membership and Access Card to the NATO Staff Center

You need to be a NATO Staff Center member and possess a valid NATO Staff Center card / access pass.  Please note that the pass needs to be renewed every year in January.

If you do not have one, then on of the below applies to you:

  1. If you or your spouse work for NATO HQ, you need to go to the Staff Center and the process will be explained to you accordingly to your post in NATO HQ.
  2. If your family members do not work for NATO HQ and you were a member of NATO Staff Center, complete a copy of the External Membership form, sign it and leave it with the Staff Center office with one passport size photo per family member, for signature by a member of the NATO Marlins club executive once payment of the registration fees has been verified on the club account.
  3. READ CAREFULLY If your family members do not work for NATO HQ, you must apply for External Membership. Complete one External Membership form per adult (or child over age 14) who wishes an access card and return each completed form to the office of the NATO Staff Center office, with 2 passport size photos of each person requesting the access card.  Ensure that each application is signed by the person making the request and leave it with the NATO Staff Center office.  Please inform the club by sending a mail to nmslearntoswim@hotmail.com (for Learn-to-Swim group) and nmscompetitiveteam@hotmail.com (for the Competitive team) as one of the NATO Marlins club executive needs to sign it. (Please note that we will sign it upon the receipt of the registration payment on the club account à see STEP 3).
    Please note that it may take up to 3 weeks to get the Staff Center card/ access pass. During this time please call the NATO Staff Center to be put on the list each week for access to the facility until your card is ready. The telephone nr to the Staff Center is 02.707.4604.

 

IMPORTANT note on fees for the the NATO Staff Center membership and pool access

Please note that there is a fee associated to the NATO Staff Center membership and pool access. The amount you need to pay depends on the status of your membership (internal / external). For external members it is about 50Euro per card.

If you apply for the Competitive Team you need to take for your child an Annual Pass for the swimming pool. It includes both membership fee and pool access fee.

If you apply for the Learn-to-Swim group, you may choose the following options:

-          Take an Annual Pass for the swimming pool (NATO Staff Center membership fee and pool access inclusive)

-          Pay only for membership in NATO Staff Center and get a 20-session card. You need to get the card punched at the Staff Center office each time your child and / or you will swim in the pool (you do not need to pay if you just enter the pool and will not swim).



B. Learn-To-Swim (LTS) Program

The LTS program is based on the American Red Cross (ARC) methodology.

B.1 Course Duration

The LTS program is provided within the school year and is divided into 2 sessions:

 - FALL session (Sept. - Jan.)

 - SPRING session (Feb. -June).

B.2 Course Composition
An LTS session is composed of 15 swim lessons, where usually one lesson per week is provided.

B.3 Duration of swim lessons
In general, LTS lessons have a duration of 45 minutes.
LTS Parent / Child lessons have a duration of 20 minutes due to the limited physical strength of the young swimmers.


B.4 Re-scheduling of swim lessons
ARC LTS lessons may be re-scheduled in case lessons had to be cancelled due to holidays or unpredictable events.

B.5 Number of participants
For all LTS courses a minimum number of three (3) participants/swimmers is required. The maximum number of participants per course is six (6) swimmers for ARC LTS courses Levels PCAA/AB and C1 through C2, and eight (8) swimmers for Levels C3 through C6 and A1 through A6.

B.6 Course Cancellation
The NMS reserves the right to cancel an ARC LTS course at the beginning of a swim season in case that less than three (3) individuals registered to attend the course.

C. Competition Swim Training
(CST) Program

C.1 Duration of a Season
The Competition Swim Training (CST) is provided in two seasons; the CST Preparative Swim Season, conducted from March to August, and the CST Competitive Swim Season, conducted from September to February of the following year.

C.2 Composition
During each CST season, training sessions are held 3-4 times a week for CST Levels AA through C and 2 times a week for CST Level D.

C.3 Duration of sessions
In general, each training session has a duration of 55 minutes to 2 hrs per session depending on level.

C.4 Scheduling of extra sessions
After coordination with swimmers and parents, the NMS might schedule extra sessions in addition to the regular training sessions, where participation will be on a voluntary basis.

D. Registration
To attend an ARC LTS course or a CST season,
it is mandatory to register (apply for NMS Membership) prior start of the course/season including returning swimmers!
As a NMS Membership automatically expires with the termination of the ARC LTS course or a CST season registered for, it is mandatory to re-register in case an individual wants to attend a follow-on ARC LTS course/CST season!
Every registration will be handled on a First Come - First Serve basis!
Late registrations at the beginning of a course/season or during a running course/season will only be accepted until the maximum number of swimmers per course has been reached (see Para B.5).

NMS members are only entitled to attend the ARC LTS course/CST season at dates for which they have registered for, unless otherwise authorized by the NMS Executive Committee.
