Special Courses

Prerequisites:
- Minimum age of 15
- Swim 500 meters continuously, using these strokes in the following
order:
• 200 meters front crawl (using rhythmic breathing &
a stabilizing, propellant kick)
• 100 meters breaststroke
• 200 meters either front crawl or breaststroke
(The final 200 (meters) may be a mixture of front crawl and breaststroke)
- Swim 20 meters using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive
to at depth of 7-10 feet (2½-3 meters), retrieve a 10-pound
(4.5 kilogram) object, return to the surface, and swim 20 yards
(meters) back to the starting point with the object. When returning
to the starting point, the participant's face must remain above
the water and the participant must hold the 10-pound object with
both hands.

Certification:
Professional Rescuer valid 1 year,
Lifeguard valid 3 years.

PRE-REQUISITES:
Be at least 16 years of age by the last scheduled session of the
Instructor Course.
Possess a Fundamentals of Instructor Training (FIT) certificate
(Day 1 of this course).
Demonstrate the ability to perform
the following swimming skills:
1. Swim the following strokes consistent with Stroke Performance
Charts, Level 4 (attached):
Breast Stroke - 25 meters
Front Crawl – 25 meters
Back Crawl - 25 meters
Sidestroke - 25 meters
Elementary Backstroke - 25 meters
Butterfly – 15 meters
2. Maintain position on back 1 minute in deep water (floating
or sculling)
3. Tread water for 1 minute
Please note: Candidates must attend all training sessions and
must pass a written test with at least 80% grade (40 of 50 questions)
and their swim skill level must be consistent with Stroke Performance
Charts, Level 6 by the end of the course.

Duration:
The training usually lasts 4 days and takes place over 2 weekends
with sessions on Saturdays and Sundays, 09:00 – 18:30.

NATO HQ Staff Center – The Chalet.
Pre-Requisites:
Participants to be at least 16 years of age by the last scheduled
session of the Instructor Course and need to be in possession
of a Fundamentals of Instructor Training (FIT) certificate.They

of Participants:
At least 6 registered candidates. If the minimum participation
is not received by the required date, the NATO Marlins reserves
the right to cancel the course.
Material:
There is a lot of course reading material. If requested, the books
may be provided early for a fee of 50 euros, which will be deducted
from the balance of the course fees upon final payment. If the
course is cancelled, the course material may only be returned
for refund if it has not been opened, used or damaged in any way.

- Perform first aid,
- Learn diapering and feeding techniques,
- Handle bedtime issues,
- Learn tips for having a safe babysitting experience,

- First Aid.
This
course includes the information and skills necessary to provide
safe and responsible care for children in the absence of parents
or adult guardians.
This course will provide teenagers with knowledge and skill practice
in first aid and breathing emergencies. They will learn how to
take precautions to prevent disease transmission. However, this
course will not provide certification in First Aid or CPR. We
recommend that they enrol in an American Red Cross (ARC) First
Aid or infant and Child CPR course to get this certification.
Prerequisites:
- upon completion of the course participants must be 11 years
of age or older in order to receive the Certification.
Successful course completion requires participation in classroom
and skills demonstration. Some practice sessions require physical
activity. Please have them wear comfortable clothing and avoid
wearing dangling jewellery or jewellery with sharp edges. If they
have a medical condition or disability, or have questions regarding
their ability to participate fully in the course please discuss
it with their physician or health-care provider and the ARC course
instructor before the beginning of the course.
