American Red Cross Fundamentals of Instructor Training (FIT) followed by Water Safety Instructors (WSI) certification.

Location: NATO Staff Center - Brussels, Belgium.
The training will take place over 2 weekends (see below). Training will be held in English.

Dates & Times:
16:00-22:00 Friday 3 September 2010 – (FIT)
09:00-18:00 Saturday 4 September 2010
15:00-22:00 Sunday 5 September 2010 (immediately following the swim competition)
09:00-18:00 Sunday 11 September 2010
09:00-18:00 Saturday 12 September 2010

PRE-REQUISITES:
Be at least 16 years of age by the last scheduled session of the Instructor Course.
Possess a Fundamentals of Instructor Training (FIT) certificate (Day 1 of this course-Friday evening).
Demonstrate the ability to perform the following swimming skills:
1. Swim the following strokes consistent with Stroke Performance Charts, Level 4 (see levels under LTS Program)
Breast Stroke - 25 meters
Front Crawl – 25 meters
Back Crawl - 25 meters
Sidestroke - 25 meters
Elementary Backstroke - 25 meters
Butterfly – 15 meters
2. Maintain position on back 1 minute in deep water (floating or sculling)
3. Tread water for 1 minute

Cost: € 275

Notes:
a. The course may be cancelled if there are less than 6 confirmed candidates.
b. A full refund will be made, if the course is cancelled by the ARC Instructor. c. No refunds made, if the candidate cancels after 27 August 2010.
d. There is a large amount of reading required, it is recommended that students start as soon as possible because of other homework/family considerations.
e. Candidates may pick up the course materials prior to the training upon receipt of payment in full.

To Achieve the ARC Certification to become a Swim Instructor Candidates must:
a. Candidates must attend all training sessions in the classroom and in the pool.
b. Achieve a skill level in swimming consistent with Stroke Performance Charts - Level 4.
c. Pass a written test with at least 80% grade.
